Printed version of the popular tabloid "Ilta-Sanomat" published several pages about the event already before the demonstrations. The first two-page report (first pages) said the demonstrations were "a provocation of the Kremlin". Several commentaries by Finnish and Russian politicians and Finnish and Estonian authors were published. The second two-page report noted the problems a group of Russian schoolgirls at the Finnish border, when they were not let into Finland, allagedly because of the demonstrations. The pickets were analysed as "funny". Later, the paper published a caricature.
